A Tribute to Our Dedicated and
Loving Father.
“Honor your father and your mother,
so that you may live long in the land
the Lord your God is giving you.”
Exodus 20:12
This is our standard reading during our
morning devotion every 31st December.
Even when the reading of the day is
different, Mr. Rockson would hand you
his missal with this verse marked for us
to read and discuss.
We are here today to honor our father,
filled with both gratitude and sorrow.
While we mourn his passing, we are
deeply thankful for the profound impact
he made on each of our lives. Augustine
Kojo Armah Rockson was not just our
father—he was our role model, our
mentor, and the rock that grounded
our family. Above all, he was a man of
faith, a devout Catholic who lived his life
according to the values and teachings he
held dear. He taught us the importance
of faith, integrity, and hard work, not only
through words but through his actions of
waking up at 12midmight for his personal
prayers then waking the family up at 4am
for the family prayers everyday of the
week excluding Sundays.His sacrifices,
and his unwavering commitment to God
was annoying growing up but now we
aspire to attain such a devotion.
Our father instilled in us a love for the
Catholic faith from a very young age.

Sundays were sacred, not just for church
attendance but for family time centered on
discussing the day’s message, reflecting
on our blessings, and reinforcing the
values of kindness, humility, and honesty.
Through his example, he taught us that
faith was more than just attending church;
it was about living out the principles of
compassion, forgiveness, and selflessness
every single day. He encouraged us to
seek God in all things, to serve others,
and to remain steadfast in our beliefs,
even when times were challenging. His
faith was not only his personal compass
but the guiding light for our family.
One of the greatest gifts our father gave
us was his constant encouragement to
pursue education and personal growth.
He believed wholeheartedly in our
potential and took great pride in each
milestone we achieved—be it an academic
accomplishment, a job promotion, or a
new skill learned. His eyes would light up
with pride and joy whenever we shared
our successes with him, and he was quick
to remind us that these achievements
were not ours alone but a reflection of
God’s blessings and our family’s support.
He often said, “Work hard, but always
remember who you are and where you
come from.” This grounding advice kept
us humble and focused, driving us to
excel not just for ourselves but for him
and our family.
He promised to build us a bicycle which
he started but his frequent sea trips never
